Helsinki International Film Festival 2011
Otakut organizes a group buy for Helsinki International Film Festival tickets. We also offer our experienced suggestions (guesses) about what movies might be worth seeing. Add your own suggestions to this wikipage.
Group purchase is finished. Arrange payment and delivery via either email to rjarvine@cc.hut.fi or ircnet private message to Riba. Tickets are purchased using series tickets, which brings the price of a single ticket to 6.40€. Most movies are not sold out yet, but you have to purchase the tickets by yourselves. :-)
Note: most of the movies are in the original language (no dubs) and usually have English subtitles. Finnish movies might not have subtitles, and some subtitles may be in Finnish.

Anime/Animation
- Arrietty, Studio Ghibli year 2010. A must-see for all Ghibli fans.
- My Neighbors the Yamadas, Studio Ghibli year 1999. Classic Ghibli anime.
- Tatsumi, a tribute to a pioneer of adult manga style. (gekiga-style, not porn..)
- From Year Zero, Czech short animations from years 2000–2010.
Aasia
- 13 assassins, latest production from Takashi Miike. Plenty of Samurai action and Violence.
- Arirang, What happened to one of the best movie directors on Korea? Kim Ki Duk tells his story in this self-made movie.
- Guilty of Romance, latest from Sion Sono, expect graphic violence and sex.
- Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame
- I Saw the Devil, korean serial killer thriller.
Muut
- Iho jossa elän, latest movie from Pedro Almodovar, also the opening movie for the festival.
- Le Quattro Volte
- Robot, Bollywood scifi/lovestory, wtf? Will no doubt have plenty of blingbling and dance.
- Drive
- Griff the Invisible, indie-movie about do-it-yourself superhero.
- Kuka, Ellemme Me?, German leftist history + romance.
- Kill List, killing, perhaps entertaining.
- Gnarr, funny political story about economic meltdown in Iceland.
- The Whistleblower, human trade in Bosnia.
